When you find the time to get all the girls in one place at one time it really calls for a celebration – and this is exactly how I knew the girl’s trip to Seville was going to be our perfect relaxing getaway!

Juggling your social life and work in your mid 20s really does prove to be as difficult as people tell you it will be. With a teacher, a 9-5 office worker and 2 hospitality workers in the group means that finding a time for us to meet up happens around once every couple months which is a huge jump from us all living together the past few years. However, one night of planning back in January resulted in us organising a very cheap girls holiday to Seville, somewhere I had never been.

First things first, we asked around for some recommendations and were quickly thrown the answer “YOU’RE GOING TO SEVILLE IN JULY???? YOU’RE GOING TO BE TOO HOT!” On further reflection these people were right and apparently even the locals leave Seville in July and August to escape the heat * face palm* but we were never going to let that stop us.

Flew StanstedSeville 8:50am Thursday

Flew SevilleGatwick 5:10pm Monday

It ended up being cheaper for us to fly from London and stay in a Premier Inn the night before our flight with trains up and down from Leeds. In hindsight I probably would pay the little bit extra to fly from Leeds/Manchester because we very probably ended up spending more on food and cancelled trains.

Staycation Spot

We actually changed our accommodation around two weeks before the holiday based on some reviews we’d seen. We chose a little flat around a 15-20 minute walk from the Centre called Eva Recommends Castellar Pool & Terrace.

Honestly this accommodation was beautiful and a lot more than we were expecting based on how cheap it was! With four of us we had a bedroom, bathroom, living room/kitchen, small balcony and a shared pool. Honestly, we spent most of our days on the loungers by the pool because it was so hot!

There were also a few little markets and bakeries around the apartment meaning we made our lunches in making it even cheaper!

Recommendation Roundup

  1. Tapas – we got most of our tapas outside of the city centre. It was probably a little cheaper to do it this way and honestly was definitely better than the tourist trap spots!
  2. Flamenco – You most definitely cannot come to Seville and not watch a flamenco show. We went to a place called Tablao Flamenco Las Setas. If you go here, get the cheapest tickets because you can see the stage from anywhere in the room.
  3. Time of year – Whilst it was beautiful to go with the sun out we definitely held off on exploring the sights because it was just too hot. I would definitely want to go back here around October-February time so I can walk around without melting into a puddle.
  4. Timings – In true Spanish style you’re best changing your food times, nobody goes out for dinner until around 9/10pm. This means you’re going to want to push your lunch back a little later as well to fuel yourself.
  5. Sights – Even though we didn’t see too much these are the places I loved/wanted to go to; Seville Cathedral, Alcazar, Plaza de Espana (you can get on rowing boats for 6 euros! Don’t go on a monday like I did because they’re not out then), Setas de Sevilla

I can safely say this was definitely the relaxation holiday we all needed and despite the insane heat it really was a beautiful and enjoyable experience!
